Steven Vargas is a Case Manager for the Minorities Action Program (MAP) at the Association for the Advancement of Mexican-Americans, Inc. (AAMA) in Houston, TX. He was a member of the Houston Area HIV Services Ryan White Planning Council for six years, the immediate past Co-Chair of the Council’s Comprehensive HIV Planning Committee, and the current Co-Chair of the Council’s Ad Hoc EIIHA Strategy Committee. Steven is also a member of the Houston Area Hepatitis C Task Force, Latino HIV Task Force, and M-Pact (the MSM Task Force). This year, Steven was one of only 10 individuals selected for the 2012 Dennis DeLeon Sustainable Leadership Institute. Steven has been HIV positive since 1995.
